Title:
speex flash player example?
hello -
i saw your article on speex-flash and hoped you could help me. i am using flash-10.1.82.76
i cannot seem to find a website example that plays a speex sample over flash.
i would love to be able to continue to use the xspf player but i cannot seem to figure out how to create the speex files to play with xspf. i saw where you said to use a "constant-bit-rate" but using speexenc.exe that appears to be the default. i did try every --quality setting too.
any help would be very much appreciated.
thank you!

speex in flash is encoded by flash player and saved in a flv container with extension flv. You can play the file as other flv files are played. If you are using some external encoder and saving the file in any other container like spx or m4a then it won't play in the flash player.

hi mark form where you downloaded speexenc.exe , I would like to try and see whats the problem. I have used flv files with speex codec created during a live application running with Flash Media Server without any problem. Since your files are created by an external codec and played on demand I would also like to see if it works.

thank you all....!
i downloaded the binaries from here:
http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/speex/speex-1.2beta3-win32.zip
but so far the only binary i have used is speexenc.exe
may i ask what would be the best way to "wrap" my speex into a flv file? my speex files are being stored on a server. will one of the binaries do this for me?
i notice that html5 can handle them no problem!
thanks,
mark
