Title:
How to sell streaming videos
I want to start a website that SELLS streaming educational video lessons and I don't know where to start. I've read so many different things about streaming media software, Amazon AWS, dedicated servers, streaming video hosting, etc. My head is spinning. I just want the most cost effective way to sell streaming videos to people on a website. Can you assist? Do I need something like Wowza or Red5?

For just streaming you do not require any serversoftware or dedicated hosting etc. A simple flash player can load an flv file and play it. The servers like WOWZA and RED5 do a lot of other functionality like live streaming and live data exchange, which is not required in your case.

Shawn, thanks for your reply, but yes, I do want streaming, not progressive download. I want streaming so that I can use security methods to protect the stream, etc.

For streaming purpose you can have your own server with red5 or wowza. Or you can buy some hosting service with RED5 / WOWZA server.
WOWZA also offers ec2 instance service through amazon see this link
