Title:
speex and flv
hello -
you kindly told me a year ago a little about speex and flv, describing the flv as a "container".
i would like to take speex files and play them on a flash player. does this mean i need to convert my speex into a "flv", or to simply put them into an flv container?
also, if i am just doing speex files, would it be an "fla" rather than an "flv"?
thanks!

Flash only plays the files that have flv extension which means flv wrapper. Speex file (.spx) is not supported in flash. You need some software that can create flv files using speex codec. Only re-encoding is the solution.

There is a tool called FFMPEG on web that is supposed to convert speex files to flv files. I have not personally used it but have got info somewhere that it works.

ok thanks guys...
one more quick q: if i am just doing audio, would i use an "fla" container rather than an "flv" ?
i have heard of FFMPEG and it looks useful. i am curious to see if FFMPEG converts and preserves the original speex file size.
other solutions had me converting the speex files to a WAV file and then to an FLV (or FLA?) - seems to me that looses the speex advantage of small file size (but again, i am a newbie)

just flv. FLA is not audio / video file container. FLA is flash source files extension.
