Title: Media Server


which server i should use for streaming?? Red5 or Flash Media Server??
what does Red5 lacks??

Well , both the servers are equally good for streaming, if your want to use streaming on a very very large scale , I will recommend you FMS. The reason behind is quality and support by adobe. RED5 is free, so its good when you want to go economical.

i see the advantage of pricing in RED5, FMS is used in many professional scenarios so it is much more tested for heavy workloads. Being paid product you should expect better quality from fms.
If you are using it for small installation and less expenditure then go for RED5

HAVE USED fms, wowza AND red5 a lot.
My preference is
FMS
WOWZA
RED5

hi , the deciding factor entirely depends upon your requirements.

Basic streaming features work well in both RED5 and FMS. But FMS is definitely ahead of all server in feature set and Performance . For detailed feature set of FMS streaming server check this link.

Some advanced features are listed here that may not be supported by RED5. The best way to go is that list out your requirements first then see if these is any requirement missed in the server you want to use .
