Title:
Which gives best video speed WOwza, FMS, or Red5
Which WOwza, FMS, or Red5 do you suggest for best video speed of multiple video chat website fro running on server?

The speed of video is more dependent on the bandwidth available on the user and server end. All the three (WOWZA, RED5 and FMS) server perform pretty well for streaming video. The server only get the video packets and forward to other connected users. So all three perform this basic function with good speed. I never noticed any difference between them .

The video speed in an video chatting application is dependent on following factors :
1) Internet Connection Bandwith on Client side
2) Internet Connection Bandwith on Client side
3) Number of videos transmitted / received - Client system displaying more number of videos at a time will require more processing and hence can perform slow.
4) Size, Framerate and quality of video - Bigger size and High quality, more framerate means more bandwidth and more processing required.
5) Client system configuration- slow system can lead to slow capturing and transmission of frames
6) Server configuration : There si no hard rule to it , but a server with more ram and good processor will handle more videos at the same time. ( I tested pentium 2.4 ghz 3gb ram FMS with 300 videos for me with audio from different client system. It worked well , did not tested more than this.)
I think the WOWZA and FMS would perform equal and RED5 can be behind with a negligible margin. RED5 is free :)

Wowza is used by sites like Justin TV and LiveStream because it's considered more reliable than Red5.

Hi,
first of all please accept a big thank you from my side. this helped me a lot.
i am very new to this, so had a question.
what are the best values to publish live streaming using red5 server.i.e.,
bandwidth,width,height,keyFrameInterval,quality,fps,micrate.

@Ramesh
the simple rule for this is that you should know how much bandwidth your clients will have. If you are targeting normal internet users then the average bandwidth would be around 256 kbps. So if you create your video files that does not exceed the 256 kbps bandwidth then it will run smoothly over many users.
So you can adjust the settings so that they does not exceed the max bandwidth value.
Some settings that can be suggested are micrate around 11, and frameInterval 10 - 15, width height and quality you should see visually and set some value which satisfies you. size generally is not bigger that 320 x 240.

Hi
Thanks for your replay.
I am using FMLE 3(Flash Media Live Encoder) to publishing streams via Red5 V9.0RC2.
while publishing through FMLE for every few seconds the live has mosaic kind of distortion in video and it will become normally in 2 to 3 seconds.
please go through the link for snapshots

The recorded video is also unable to open.
I am unable to understand why this mosaic kind of distortion came in to picture. otherwise the video is very clear.
Thanks in advance.
