Title: actionscript 3 subsection buttons in a gotoAndStop function page

Hi ive recently been building a portfolio in order for me to try and find a placement for my gap year. The portfolio consists of a single swf file using a basic header menu system of 4 buttons (which are always on screen) and the gotoAndStop function to navigate to different frames in the swf file.

The problem occurs when i want to include an arrow button to go to a subsection of one of my menu button pages on the main content pane. A error #1009 always comes up when i run the swf and im thinking it has something to do with the subsection button appearing at a specific frame and not being on screen the whole time (like the menu buttons).

Is their anyway around this problem, ive been trying different solutions for a while now and the only thing i can think of is too start again using actionscript 2 so i can assign the actionscript to the button not the timeline. But this is something i really dont want to do due to the work ive put into this portfolio already.

If their is any soulution it would be a great help

Hi Sam first of all you should install the debug version of flash player so that you can get the exact description of error with line number where it occurs else you just get the error code. Error code 1009 means that you are trying to use something that's not accessible while being accessed. It seems to me that you have written the arrow button code on a frame before it is appearing. you should write its code after its frame.
